Formed in October 1990, BEACON CONSULTING GROUP, INC. provides services ranging from coalition building and grassroots organizing to direct contact with appropriate officials. The firm assists its clients in building productive, long-term relationships with Congressional representatives and officials within the Executive Branch. We specialize in assisting clients in participating in the Congressional authorization and appropriation processes.

The firm’s founder and President, Gordon P. MacDougall, previously served as Associate Staff to the House Committee on Appropriations and as Administrative Assistant to Congressman John Porter (R-IL). Mr. MacDougall has also served as Executive Director of the National Coalition for Volunteer Protection and the Campaign for Medical Research and as a member of the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the Administrative Assistants Association of Washington, DC, and numerous other non-profit organizations. His unique blend of expertise with non-profit organizations and the Congressional appropriation process has provided Beacon with a solid foundation and an exceptional record of success in assisting nonprofits in securing federal funding for programs and projects of national significance.

Lisa A. Stewart, formerly with the Association of Junior Leagues International, has been with the firm since 1994 and is the Executive Vice President. Ms. Stewart also serves on the Boards of Big Brothers Big Sisters International, the Friends of Bishop Strachan School, the University Club of Washington, DC and the University Club Foundation.

Therese Magnuson, Vice President, joined Beacon in the spring of 2007. Therese came to Beacon after working for Congressman Timothy Johnson (R-IL) and is a graduate of the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign.

Christopher Fisher, Senior Legislative Assistant, joined Beacon in the summer of 2009. He is a graduate of Villanova University and comes with a wealth of legislative internship experience.

Emma L. Stock, Office Manager, joined Beacon in the spring of 2010. She is a graduate of The Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington and has previous non-profit and legislative, both federal and state, experience.
